This week, we ended up watching The Box, which turns out to be the creepiest film I've seen in years. It's not really my style, but it certainly deserves credit for that.
The Box tells the story of Norma and Arthur, a married couple who suddenly receive a gift on their doorstep: a simple cardboard box containing a button in a glass case. A few hours later, they receive the visit of a man telling them that if they push the button within the next 24 hours, they will receive one million dollars, but a random person unknown to them will die instantly. In desperate need of money, they push the button, starting a horrible chain of events for their family.
If you want to know the details of this chain of events, I recommend you go watch this film. It would be too much of a spoiler telling anything, so I won't. I must admit the story is a great find and the acting is very realistic but somehow the film does not do it for me. It's one of those films you have to watch twice to really understand and spot all the cunning details, but I just don't feel like watching it again. I'm in some sort of dilemma about it...
Rating this film is very strange: I feel that there are people who would really love this film, but I'm just not one of them. I'll give it 1/5, but I would recommend everybody to give it a try and make up their own mind.
