Film Review: Shutter Island

This week's film was Shutter Island the new Scorsese flick starring Leo DiCaprio. It's a story of an insane asylum in the 1950s housing only the US' most dangerous criminals. Until somebody goes missing...

Teddy Daniels, a US marshal, is sent to Shutter Island, an island prison full of insane criminals, when prisoner Rachel Solando is suddenly missing. When Teddy soon finds out there is nothing he can do and wants to go back, a Hurricane hits the island blocking any travel. That is when the events start to take a turn for the worse, making Teddy fear for his life on the island.

The film actually has quite a few deep story lines, which is usually something I like, however for some reason I missed a big chunk of the middle part as I fell asleep. Probably Leo DiCaprio, he always has that effect on me... However, I will not pass judgment on this film until I've seen it again on DVD, since the ending really intrigued me.

Provisional verdict: 2/5. It could have been 3, but falling asleep always kills the score...
